We want to make you love our country. We want to make you love the life which flows slower here than elsewhere, voluptuously, like our rivers. But Laos is difficult to penetrate. The means of communication and the roads are rare and precarious.

This is one reason why tourist activity is concentrated on a few places that are easily accessible. Sure, we too can arrange a boat ride for you on the busiest part of the Mekong River, give you a traditional elephant ride where for a few moments you will lose sight of the roof of your hotel, or show you some pseudo ethnic minorities dressed for the occasion in some unbecoming traditional costumes...

But we would most of all like to have you share the nonchalant everyday life of the river people, a meal with mountain people, remnants from another era, the elegant walk of beautiful women in their long sinh, monks out at dawn to collect food, the deep forests or simply one of these magical tropical sunsets...
