Besides the several suggestions mentioned herebelow and all the tours which we can plan with you and according to your requirements, we would like to propose some exceptional tours, original and exclusive for the year 2004/2005.


- 9-day tour. New archealogical site. By car, plane and foot. From Vientiane to Vientiane.
Some mountain people have just discovered a new archealogical site containing a vast number of urns like those that can be seen in the famous Urns Plain (Phonsavan). The visit to this site, around 100 kilometers from Phonsavan, will be the objectif of a 5 to 6 day trek inside the borders of Laos. Accomodation and meals will be arranged in Hmong villages with no comfort offered. (As this site is located in a border area, we will need prior approval from the authorities for each tour).

- 9-day tour. Shaman ceremonies. By car and plane. From Vientiane to Vientiane.
After taking part in an animist ceremony (nang thiêm) in the capital Vientiane, we will go to the famous Urns Plain to visit several sites where we can see these funeral urns. We will then take part in a ceremony with the Lao Loum (Laotians of the plains) during which the shamans will try to bring back the spirits that may have departed from someone in the group. We will then visit an odd burial site with strangely inclined menhirs as tombstones. We will cross part of the Samneua province to meet the Hmong Dam shamans who are channelers of the horse spirit, then a Yao shaman who will perform a ceremony by chanting sacred words that govern the spiritual and social life of this ethnic people.
This trip is not very trying physically. However, accomodation at the Yao and Hmong minorities offer no comfort. In these villages you will eat the same food as the peasants.

- 14-day tour. Forgotten minorities. By car, dugout and foot.
After visiting Vientiane and Luang Prabang we will go up the Nam Ou River. For the next 7 days we will travel on foot, between 4 to 8 hours walk per day, and will visit Sino-Tibetan minority villages which are not be found on any map (Poussang, Koh Eupa, Koh Moutchi, Koh Louma and Khmu Ou). Some of these minorities are still practically unknown. Food and accomodation will be the same as those of the villagers, that is somewhat rudimentary. Participants will carry their own personal belongings. However extra porterage can be arranged. This trip, somewhere between an exploration and a standard trek, is restricted to people who are very motivated and in excellent physical condition.
The return trip to Vientiane will be either by the same route or by plane from Luang Prabang.
It is possible to extend the tour by three days to visit the Pounoye and Koh Oma villages as well.
